{LANtastic Z(TM)
{For notebook and desktop computers
{Link two PCs easily for file transfers, application and peripheral
{sharing via cable or modem
LANtastic Z is a simple network for connecting two computers. It can
be a powerful notebook-to-desktop file transfer program, plus a tool
for sharing programs, printers and data, and a remote-access program
connecting to another PC via modem. Because its connections are by
direct cable or modem, LANtastic Z is a zero-slot network that needs
no network adapters.
As the lowest-cost version of the award-winning LANtastic(R) network,
LANtastic Z is simple to install and use, yet loaded with the
sophisticated features that make LANtastic the world leader in
peer-to-peer networks for Windows and DOS. Each computer has full
access to look up, edit and transfer each other s files, share
printers and other peripherals, and communicate through LANtastic
e-mail, even across a modem phone-link.
In a two-PC office, LANtastic Z connects across parallel or serial
cables. The program shares all the features available on a LANtastic
network, including disk and resource caching to speed up data
transfers, security levels from individual files to entire disk drives
and an award-winning system for sharing CD-ROM drives.
LANtastic Z includes its own electronic mail program and supports
uninterruptible power supply (UPS) devices to protect against power
outages. Although the program uses less than 16K as a workstation and
40K as a server, you can remove the network from memory if you need
every possible kilobyte. Even in slower PCs with only 256K of RAM, the
LANtastic Z network is an effective performer that lets you use more
resources from both computers.
